Elegant and graceful, swans embody beauty and tranquility on the water. Their majesty and lifelong devotion never cease to fascinate. When I was a child, a young swan often visited the beach in Stary Folwark. Alone, still in brownish-gray plumage, he would appear shortly after another swan family had departed. There was a story that he had been abandoned by his parents—a thought that deeply troubled my young mind. I never learned if it was true, but the memory of those moments has stayed with me. Now, as I photograph swans, I am transported back to those days and once again feel the simple wonder of that first encounter.
